Greeting to the Most Awesome Populace of the Far West,
As we closely approach the final month and 8 days until the Barony of the Far West Coronet I wanted to give everyone a quick heads up of any changes and a final plea. I ask that all Seneschals, and members please forward this email out to all members in your respective group. I need this to get maximum visibility.
Getting a site this year has been a real headache. Castles, as much as we wanted to, too much red tape and we were turned down at every attempt. Next up Kadena Marina stated that they do not want to support the "image" that the SCA portrays to the locals of Japan. They don't want us to look like, and I quote "war mongrols" to the locals of Okinawa. Third Up, Torii Station camping area, also turned down due to they are holding their Roctober Fest the very same weekend so everything is booked, (plus the sound of thrash metal really doesn't fit to well.....) On to attempt 4. Tomorrow I will be contacting White Beach Recreation Facility to see if we can hold the event at the location. Please don't fret, we do have a back up plan if all else fails but we are attempting to get a location that will be most convienant for all those attending. White Beach has camping and campers available, along with a fire pit, and canopy's.
this is where I need your assistance. I urgently need a final head count within the next couple of days along with any special lodging requests. I am considering renting a few campers which sleep 3 or 4 each so if people don't mind sharing.... Please visit groups.yahoo.com/group/FarWest/database?method=reportRows&tbl=3
and make a seperate line entry for each member and family member or guest that you will be bringing to the event. I really need this within the next 2 or 3 days or it will be very difficult for me to guarentee a place at feast, or a place to stay.
There have been a few important changes or additions to the schedule. First of all for the Meat and Greet on Friday we will be going to "Jon Jon's", an all you can eat and drink (wet site) for around 2000Yen. On Sunday for those flying out late or staying a little longer we will be making reservations for the Dinner Cruise. This is not be covered by the Site Fee. This is going to run us around $50.00 (5000yen) depending on which meal you chose per person and is completely optional if you would like to attend. Finally the Site Fee's and Feast fee have been determined. Site fee will be $10.00, Feast Fee $10.00 for a total of $20.00 if you plan to attend both. If you have any final question please contact me offline and look forward to seeing you all at what will be a great event.
