During our meeting with their Majesties, Lord Waris put on a remarkable display with the following outfit: He had documentation of this style of hat through both paintings and later pictures, as the style changed some but continued in use up until at least the 19th or 20th centuries. It is part of the traditional Thai outfit worn when presenting oneself before the king. He brought this, as well as a "traveling hat" (a common, lacquered hat whose name apparently came from one of the kings going out traveling in it, or something similar) he had made, with lovely paintings on all sides.
